Marking the finish of an eventful year for mooting in NUJS the university team comprising of Nirmit Agarwal, Manika Gupta, Raksha Raina and Aniket Singh has emerged as the runners up at the HSF Competiton Law moot 2018 held at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London between the 15th of June to the 16th of June 2018.
The HSF competition law moot 2018 was sponsored by the Herbert Smith Freehills one of the world’s leading law firms and was aimed at providing students an opportunity to showcase their advocacy skills in front of an expert judging panel drawn from the field of international competition law.The moot was judged by some of the most eminent competition law specialists, academics and practitioners which included William Kovacic, the commissioner of the United states federal trade commission and FTC chairman, Bo Vesterdorf, the former president of the ECJ, Alison Jones, professor at King’s College London, Dorothy Livingston, Roland Green, panel member at the competition and markets authority and judges from the European court of Justice.
The team created history by being the only Indian team to have gone that far into the competitive rounds so as to win the runners up though it was the first time a university team from NUJS had taken part in the particular moot. The team was up against the team from King’s College London in the final rounds.
Apart from emerging the Runners Up, Manika Gupta from the 4th year also bagged an honourable mention as a speaker.
We congratulate all the members of the winning team for this remarkable achievement and the Moot court society for what has been a phenomenal year for NUJS in the mooting arena.
